Prof. dr hab. Piotr Mariusz Skowron (University of Gdansk) has received National Center for Science (NCN) grant in the amount of 2,197,200 PLN for the development of novel gene expression system, based on thermophilic bacteriophages entitled: “Synthetic biology approach to biosynthesis of termophilic, problematic and toxic protein: bacteriophage expression system with very wide temperature range (30-80).”. Cloning and expression of genes in heterologous organisms, synthetic biology, and recombinant proteins have become indispensable tools in scientific research and the biotechnology industry. However, some essential areas of gene cloning/expression suffer from major deficiencies, such as problems with protein biosynthesis from recombinant genes. Selected concepts of of the DNA FACE™ technology will be applied in prospective genetic constructs.
